POOLER, GA (March 26, 2018) - Larry and Shelly White of Atlanta fought through unseasonably cold temperatures and gusty winds to win the GSGA Mixed Team Championship at 7-under-par 137 (66-71). The inaugural playing of this competition was held at Savannah Quarters Country Club, March 25-26.
The husband/wife team finished the opening round with a one-stroke cushion after posting a 6-under-par 66 in four-ball stroke play. The final round, which was played in a modified alternate format, saw the duo from Druid Hills Golf Club come in at 1-under-par 71 to win by one stroke.
Mike Funk of Pooler and Danielle Davis of St. Simons Island paired up to earn runner-up honors at 6-under-par 138 (70-68). Stan Gann, Jr., of Warner Robins teamed up with his mother, Sissi Gann of Kathleen, to finish third at 3-under-par 141 (67-74).
In the Net Division, the Dallas team of Donald Powell and Brenda Powell won at 26-under-par 118. Rick Edstrom of Peachtree Corners and Barbara Edstrom of Norcross tied for division runner-up honors with Hal Wright and Alison Wright, both of Bonaire, at 19-under-par 125.
