PALATKA, FL (March 11, 2018) - Beginning the day three shots back David Anthony closed with the round of the tournament, a 64, to win the Florida Azalea Senior Invitational for the second time. Anthony was able to edge out Marcus Beck, the leader after each of the first two rounds. Beck had been in search of wins on consecutive weekends after winning last weeks Moot Thomas Senior Memorial.
Playing at Palatka Golf Club, Anthony opened with rounds of 69-70 as we was finally able to chase down Beck (66-70-68--204) who he had been just trailing after the first two rounds.
Anthony (69-70-64--203) won his first Florida Azalea Senior Invitational in 2013 (he also won the open Florida Azalea Invitational in 2006) and during the stretch he has rarely finished outside the top-10. Since 2010 Anthony has recorded seven top-10 finishes including the two wins during the time frame.
Defending champion Doug Hanzel (71-69-66--206) was six back after day one before ending up third, Pat O'Donnell (72-68-68--208) took fourth while Bart Dornier (69-73-69--211) was fifth.
SUPER SENIOR DIVISION
Pete McDade (70-70-72--212) was able to hold on and win the Super Senior Division by a single shot over runner-up Denny Taylor (72-72-69--213).
Bobby Lundquist (73-72-72--217) was third, Ed Pierce (69-73-76--218) and Berger Warner (71-75-72--218) shared fourth.
LEGENDS DIVISION
Once again things were decided by a stroke with Don Marsh (67-72-70--209) earning the victory by the smallest of margins over second place finisher Joe Pavoni (67-70-73-210).
Brian Sachs (69-74-69--212) took third, Steve Melnyk (69-76-69--214) was fourth and Bill Engel (72-72-75--219) was fifth.
