TALLAHASSEE, FL (February 25, 2018) - With conditions worsening due to rain host Florida State was led to victory on the final day of the Seminole Intercollegiate by medalist winner, freshman John Pak.
Playing at Golden Eagle Country Club the Seminoles finished 20-under and nine-strokes in front of runner-up Jacksonville (-14), in third it was James Madison (-9), Cincinnati (-4) was in fourth while in fifth it was Arkansas State (+2).
The win was the second of the season for Florida State.
Pak, 8-under and the winner by three, dealt with the toughest conditions of the day on the homeward nine carding three birdies, the final one coming on No. 18 as he played the side in a flawless 3-under 33.
The three birdies on the back nine were combined with a lone bogey on the 3rd as Pak carded a 2-under 70 to follow up rounds of 72-66 on the 36-hole first day.
During Pak's 6-under 66 in the second round the first first-time collegiate winner turned in 1-under 35 before catching fire on the back nine with five birdies enroute to a bogey-free 5-under 31 side. Pak birdied four of the last six holes, three of the last four and the last two.
With the win Pak, an AJGA Rolex Junior First Team All-American a year ago, continues to impress. Previously in four events Pak had finished eighth or better three-times. His previous best finish came at The Doc Gimmler where he was second.
Behind Pak in the top-10 for Florida State were Jamie Li (T2; -5) and Harry Ellis (T5; -4).
The top-five of the individual standings was rounded out by Nacho Montero (James Madison), Albert Badosa-Soler (Nicholls State) and Li in second at 5-under while Raul Pereda (Jacksonville), Ellis and Michael Sakane (Jacksonville) were tied for fourth at 4-under.
