Leading by one at the start of the day and playing at Miami Beach Golf Club, Bergeron sent an early message with a birdie on No. 1 and despite falling back to even-par for the day with a bogey on the 5th he was able to take command of the tournament with birdies on Nos. 7, 12 and 13 to move to 16-under. Bergeron did wobble a bit with a 15th hole bogey but he was able to solidify his title with one last birdie on the 17th.
The four-shot win was the largest in tournament history, which is remarkable considering how far back Bergeron was at the halfway point. His 267 tournament total is also a tournament record.
One of the elite junior players in the country, Bergeron has his collegiate career off to a strong start. In five tournaments this fall Bergeron has two top-five showings including a tied first finish at the LSU hosted David Toms Intercollegiate.
18-year-old Benjamin Jones of England and S.M. Lee of Dalton State shared second at 12-under while Lipscomb's Dawson Armstrong, Riley Elmes of Loyola Marymount and South Carolina's Scott Stevens shared fourth at 11-under.
Armstrong had the round of the day, a 6-under 65 that featured his first-ever hole-in-one in tournament play.
