WICKENBURG, AZ (December 3, 2017) - Trevor Lampson shot a final-round 1-under 70 to hold off Ted Neville by a single shot and win the season-ending Arizona AGA Players Cup Championship at Wickenburg Ranch Golf Club.

Lampson, who is a sophomore at Grand Canyon University, shot a first-round 68 on Saturday, and finished the tournament at 4-under 138. Neville shot 70-69 to take the runner-up spot.

The AGA Players Cup is modeled after the PGA Tour's FedEx Cup, with players accumulating points in Arizona Golf Association championships and other events throughout the season, before facing off in the AGA Players Cup Championship.

Mason Andersen finished in third place, two shots behind Lampson, earning enough points to clinch the overall Players Cup title for 2017. Andersen, a freshman at Arizona State University who qualified to play in the U.S. Open earlier this summer, finished the season with 2825 points, 220 ahead of runner-up Blaine Staggs.

It looked like Andersen might get the double, as he grabbed a two-shot lead after an opening 5-under 66. Andersen still held the lead with seven holes to play on Sunday, but three bogeys coming in doomed his chances. Andersen finished with a 3-over 74 and a 140 total.

Three other players--Jared Mactas (72-68), Matthew McClung (70-70) and 61-year-old Jeff New (70-70)--tied for third with Andersen.

New won the Senior championship by two shots over John Hull, with Rusty Brown finishing tied fifth and taking the season-long Seniors Players Cup championship.

Brad Wayment and Scott Smith tied for the win in the Masters Division at 4-over 146, with Jeff Benton finishing tied fourth and winning the overall Masters Players Cup championship.

Tim Blau and David Rasley tied for the win in the Legends Division at 6-over 148, but it was Blau who came out on top in the season-long Legends Players Cup championship.
