CENTREVILLE, VA (September 27, 2017) - On a very windy day, Pete DeTemple backed up his first round 71 (-1) with an even par 72 today to win the Washington Metropolitan Senior Championship by one shot over Larry Martone, the round one leader.
Martone started round two with back-to-back birdies on the opening holes and then ran into plenty of trouble on the front to give up the lead, seemingly for good. A two under 34 on the back nine nearly did the trick, but he came up one short. DeTemple was mostly steady, with five bogeys and four birdies over the two days.
