Walker Cup: TV Times, Schedule of Play from Los Angeles CC
LOS ANGELES, CA (September 1, 2017) - The
USGA announced its 10-man Walker Cup team on the 10th green at Riviera immediately after the final match of the U.S. Amateur. The
R&A followed suit the next day, and now the anticipation begins for the 46th Walker Cup Match between the United States and Great Britain & Ireland teams at Los Angeles Country Club.

What is the Walker Cup Match?
- Contested by male amateur players, one team from the United States of America and one team from England, Ireland, and Wales (GB&I)
- The teams consist of not more than 10 players and a captain.
- The Match is conducted every two years, alternately in the U.S. and Great Britain/Ireland.
- This is the 46th Match and will be the 3rd time the Walker Cup will ever be hosted on the West Coast - Seattle Golf Club, 1961; Cypress Point Club, 1981
Scoring
A victory in each match scores one point. In the event a match goes 18 holes without a winner, a half-point is awarded to each team. The team that scores the most points wins the Match. In the event of a tie, the team that won the previous competition retains the trophy.

ABOUT THE
The Walker Cup
The Walker Cup Match is a biennial 10-man
amateur
team competition between the USA and a team
composed of players from Great Britain and
Ireland
and selected by The R&A. It is played over two
days
with 18 singles matches and eight foursomes
(alternate-shot) matches.
The first United States Walker Cup Team, which
in
1922 defeated the GB&I side, 8-4, at the
National Golf
Links of America, is considered among the best
teams
ever and included Francis Ouimet, Bob Jones,
Charles
“Chick” Evans and Jess Sweetser. Many of the
game’s
greatest players have taken part in Walker Cup
competition, including U.S. Open champions
Jack
Nicklaus, Tiger Woods and Jordan Spieth for
the
USA
and Graeme McDowell, Rory McIlroy and Justin
Rose
for Great Britain and Ireland.
