FRESNO, CA (May 30, 2017) - Playing at Riverside Golf Course Jacob Fukano closed with a 3-under 69 to finish 4-under and win the 90th Fresno City Amateur by a shot over Scott Travers.
Midway through Sunday's second round Fukano was 2-over and seemingly and treading water but a three birdie, bogey-free back nine pushed him to 1-under and into the the thick of the race.
On Monday Fukano picked up right where he left off with a flawless 3-under 32 on the front nine to reach 4-under. Things weren't as smooth on the second nine for Fukano but with two birdies and two bogeys he was able to cling to the lead.
Runner-up Scott Travers closed with the round of the tournament, a 7-under 65, to finish 3-under after staring the day 4-over but it was to little to late. During the final round Travers birdied seven times, eagled once and bogeyed twice. His final bogey on the 17th hole was ultimately what did Travers in.
Jason Anthony and Marcus Potter shared third at 1-under while Adam Stone at 1-over was fifth.
