The Macbeth: DJ Fernando and Stephen Hale win by 3
D.J. Fernando partnered with Stephen Hale to win The Macbeth
LOS ANGELES, Calif. (May 27, 2017) -- DJ Fernando and Stephen Hale posted an aggregate score of 6-over 148 today, closing out a 3-shot Macbeth victory at Wilshire Country Club.
The pair entered the final round at 9-under 133 after two rounds of best-ball play, so their tournament total is 3-under. That was enough to hold the margin they held over chasers Robert Funk and David Ober of Bear Creek, since the pair also posted 148 today. Funk, 53, recently qualified for the US Senior Open.
Champions Fernando and Hale play out of Bakersfield Country Club, and both hold impressive resumes -- Fernando recorded four top-10 finishes in California tournaments last year including a win at the Santa Cruz City.
Hale is a former Cal Berkeley golfer who after graduation competed with status on the PGA Tour Latinoamerica circuit and PGA Tour Canada circuit. The longtime AmateurGolf.com member and "Tour" participant has recently become reinstated as an amateur and settled into a roll as a competitive mid-amateur golfer while working on the retail real estate team for Colliers International.
There were 33 players in the field at scratch or below.
