ST. LOUIS, MO (May 21, 2017) - Scott Kirchoff broke away from the field with a late run at Normandie Golf Course, going eagle-birdie-birdie on fifteen through seventeen and giving him a three shot win at the Metropolitan Golf Association's Normandie Amateur.
Kirchoff started the day four shots behind the first-round leader Craig Hardcastle, Jr. who had opened with a four-under 67 and led by three.
By the turn, Kirchoff had caught Hardcastle at one-under for the tournament, but a bogey on eleven put him back at even par, with Tom Barry en route to posting a 70 for an even par 142.
Hardcastle then fell out of contention with four bogeys and two doubles.
Kirchoff then made his move on the fifteenth, picking up four shots on the next three holes and giving him the cushion he needed heading into the 250-yard par-3 eighteenth. A bogey there left him three shots ahead of Barry, with Hardcastle, Jeff Johnson and Matt Hatley finishing tied for third at 143.
Skip Berkmeyer, who started the day tied for second three shots behind, shot a 74 to finish solo sixth at 144.
