BAY SHORE, NY (May 13, 2017) - On Saturday Jonathan Jeter was able to beat the worst of the rain and also the field as he won the Havemeyer Invitational hosted by Southward Ho Country Club.
Jeter, who earned medalist honors on Thursday, completed his run to the title with a 2 up win over No. 2 Jack Halleron. The victory came on the heels of a 3&1 semifinal win Saturday morning against four-seed Kevin Dolph.
During the four rounds of match play Jeter was so impressive that he didn't play past the 17th hole until the championship match.
Halleron reached the finals by way of a 3&2 win over three-seed Jason Monroe.
SENIOR DIVISION
In an ever so slight upset No. 2 Tom Trakoval won the Senior Division thanks to a dominating 5&4 showing in the title match. Trakoval was able to best top-seed Richard Schmidt who had won his semifinal tilt against No. 12 Craig Maerki 1 up.
Trakoval arrived at the final following his 4&2 triumph over Matthew Corrigan.
Of Note: Both championship matches featured the top two-seed in either division.
