Stanford moves into the Albuquerque Regional Lead

ALBUQUERQUE, NM (May 9, 2017) - The top-seed Stanford Cardinals combined for a 5-under day and they are now 3-under and leading the Albuquerque Regional by four shots.
Playing at the UNM South Championship Course Stanford was paced on Tuesday by medalist leader Albane Valenzuela's 3-under 69. Valenzuela, 4-under overall, and the leader by one birdied three of her first four holes as she played the front nine in a flawless 3-under 33. The 2016 Olympian then held steady on the back nine with one birdie and a bogey.
Three other members of the Cardinal lineup are currently residing in the top-15 and helping to power Stanford into the lead; Shannon Aubert (T7; -1), Andrea Lee (T13; +1) and Casey Danielson (T13; +1).
Charging hard on the heels of Valenzuela in the individual race are Julianne Alvarez (Washington) and Martina Edberg (CSU Fullerton) in second place at 3-under while Tatiana Wijaya (Pepperdine), first round leader Laura Kowohl (NC State) and Bianca Pagdanganan (Gonzaga) are tied for fourth at 2-under.
From each regional six teams will advance to the NCAA Championships.
Outside of Stanford the top-six currently includes Pepperdine (+1) in second, USC (+4) is in third, Duke (+9) sits in fourth, California (+10) is fifth and defending NCAA Champion Washington (+11) is sixth.
Five other teams will begin the final round within eight shots of the final spot in the NCAA Championship field. The group includes Oklahoma State, Miami, Illinois, Campbell and NC State.
