SAN FRANCISCO, CA (March 15, 2017) -- Top-seed Gary Vanier has advanced to the San Francisco City Championship Senior Division semifinals but defending champion Randy Haag has not.
In the upset of the tournament, 26-seed Rich Rowley continued his run with a 5&4 upset victory over Haag. In three matches thus far Rowley has yet to play past the 16th hole and that trend continued Wednesday. Rowley will now face 22-seed Jeff Britton in the second semifinal on Saturday morning at TPC Harding Park.
Britton moved on with a 20 hole grind it out win over No. 30 Ray Kong.
The previously mentioned Vanier continued his march to the finals with a hard fought 2&1 triumph over 25-seed Jeff Donnelly.
Vanier will look to punch his ticket to Sunday mornings final against No. 20 Bob Burnett who outlasted No. 28 Steve Donnelly 2&1 as well.
