DELAND, FL (March 6, 2017) -- The Florida Winter Series at Victoria Hills, marked the end of the 2017 Winter Series as the warmer temperatures of spring approach. The final event stayed in true winter fashion with winds gusting up to 30 miles per hour, leaving players ready for the warmth of spring.

In the Mid-Amateur Division the tile went to Paul Tesori of Ponte Vedra, FL. Tesori carded rounds of 72-75 to post a 147 that put them two shots in front of runner-up Robbie Sisca. The Port Saint Lucie, FL resident posted rounds of 77-72 to post 149. Four players were a shot further back in a tie for third.

Jim Skillman, a Belleair Beach native, maintained his lead after round one to win the Senior Division. Skillman carded an opening round of 74 followed by a 1-over par, 73, to win by two-strokes over Chuck Davis (74-73-147.) Davis, a resident of Tampa, also came back from an opening round of 77 to card an even-par round of 72 during the final round for a total of 149.

The Super Senior Division saw the low rounds of the weekend. Tom Grady, a Lakewood Ranch native, finished an impressive 1-over-par 145 for the weekend after carding rounds of 73 and 72 to take home his second Winter Series win of the season.

The low round of the weekend came from Robert Lundquist as he chased down his third victory of the season. Lundquist, of Sanford, was tied for second after a round one 75 and had the best come back of the weekend posting a one under-par 71 in round two. He fell one shot short to finish second to Grady with a 146 total.

Throughout the winter series, a points list is maintained that, after the last event of the season, determines which competitor wins their age division. Robbie Sisca was awarded the Mid-Amateur (25-54) age division champion and is now exempt into the 100th Florida Amateur Championship held at The Bear’s Club in Jupiter.

The Senior (55-64) age division Champion, John Vaccaro earned an exemption into the 2017 Mid-Amateur Championship at John’s Island West as well as the Senior Amateur Championship.

Robert Lundquist started this Winter Series with an impressive 6-under par 66 at Palm Beach Polo, to be named champion of the 65 and over age division. He will be exempt for the 2017 Senior Amateur Championship being held at Bradenton Country Club in Bradenton.
