PALOS VERDES ESTATES, CA (February 13, 2017) -- USC senior Tiffany Chan and freshman Muni He each birdied their final holes as USC edged out Arizona State by one shot.
USC's final round 288 gave them a three-round total of 856 (+4) which is a new tournament record. Arizona State posted the only under-par third round (282) to make a late charge as first-round leader Florida struggled down the stretch.
"The girls persevered today," USC Coach Andrea Gaston said. "They stayed in the game. Each day we had a rough start, but it's not always how you start, it's how you finish. I'm really proud of them. This is a hard course and you have to stay patient and present."
The win is the 2nd for the Trojans this season and the 4th overall in this event. Duke's Leona Maguire, Florida's Taylor Tomlinson, and UNLV's Mackenzie Raim each tied for individual honors at 210 (-4).
