Donald Ross Junior: A.J. Beechler rallies to win

PINEHURST, NC (December 29, 2016) -- For the second time in two years A.J. Beechler has won a Donald Ross Junior title. In 2014 Beechler won the 12-14 Division and now two years later he is the winner of the 15-18 Division. Beechler put together rounds of 70-70 to finish 4-under and win the crown.
Teeing it up at Pinehurst Resort No. 5, Beechler played solidly on the final day with four birdies and two bogeys. The tone for the round was set with a birdie on the second hole and the strong play continued with additional birdies on the eighth, 10th and 13th holes.
First round leader Jack Parrott settled for second place and a 2-under tally. Parrott posted rounds of 69-73. Attie Giles and Grayson Wotnosky shared third at 1-under and they were the final two players under-par. The 2-over Connor Armistead was fifth.

2014 South Carolina Junior Championship Jack Parrott is pacing the the Donald Ross Junior field following a first round 4-under 68 at Pinehurst Resort. He will carry a slim lead into the Thursday's final round.
Parrott birdied his first hole and then the fourth to set the stage for his highlight moment of the day, an eagle two on par-4 seventh. One more birdie came on No. 15 and it proceeded his lone bogey on No. 16. Parrott closed his day with two pars.
Attie Giles is in second place after a 3-under 69 Thursday. He began his day with birdies on the first and the fourth before going onto sign for a six birdie, three birdie tally.
A.J Beechler, Matthew Feinstein, Lansdon Robbins and Grayson Wotnosky are all shared third at 2-under. A trio of others are 1-under and tied for seventh.
GIRL'S DIVISION
The Girl's Division was won by Gracyn Burgess who put together rounds of 78-75 to win by one. Kathryn Carson was second and Taylor Hinson was third.

More than 200 high school boys and girls come to Pinehurst every December to compete for this coveted title.
