Roger Brooks and Gerry Pascale capture South Carolina Forty-Plus Finale

OKATIE, SC (December 12, 2016) -- Roger Brooks
and
Gerry Pascale held off hard charging Josh McMillan
and
Stan Sill to take the top spot in the South Carolina
Forty-Plus Finale at the Callawassie Island Club with
a
final score of 12-under-par. Brooks and Pascale
followed
up their first round 9-under 63 with a hard fought 3-
under 69.
The day didn't get off to the best of starts for
the
duo and they made the turn 1-over before putting it
all
together on the way home with a flawless 4-under
32 to
win by one over McMillan and Sill. The runner-up
pairing
started the day five back and nearly pulled off the
comeback thanks to bogey-free 7-under 65.
In the Net Division, defending Gross Champions
Jamie Manning and Jeff Wong tied with Rob
Bovender
and Michael Caprio to share top honors with scores
of
134.
In the Senior Division, Wayne Brock and Todd
Hendley roared back with a day two 10-under 62 for
a
two day total of 13-under-par to win by seven shots.
Rodney Mathews and his partner, Rodney Ready,
dominated the field winning the Net prize by four
shots
with a total score of 129.
ROUND ONE RECAP
After the first
round of the South Carolina 40 Plus Finale at the
Callawassie Island Club, Roger Brooks and Gerry
Pascale hold a three shot lead following a 9-under-
par
score of 63. The duo played spectacular golf
throughout
the day carding nine birdies and no bogeys. Brooks
and
Pascale started on the 6th hole and when all was
said
and done they had tallied seven birdies on holes 1-9.
Defending Champions, Jamie Manning and Jeff
Wong, are in second place after firing a 6-under 66.
Their round included seven birdies and one bogey. In
the Net Division, Pascale and Brooks also hold a one
shot lead at 64.
In the Senior Division, Duff Wagner and Terry
Willis
are tied with Bernie Shealy and Holley Wallace at 4-
under-par 68. John Evans and Joe Roller hold a one
shot
lead over two other teams in the Net Division.
The 2016 SCGA Forty Plus Finale is being played
at
the Callawassie Island Club on the
Dogwood/Magnolia
course. The Tournament division is playing from
6,567
yards and the Senior Division is playing from a 6,089
yard course. The field consists of 46 two-man teams
playing a Best Ball format conducted over thirty six
holes. Awards will be giving to the top teams in both
the
Gross & Net Division. The Forty Plus Finale is one of

Forty Plus events & over 100 Tournaments
conducted
annually by the South Carolina Golf Association.
ABOUT THE
South Carolina Forty-Plus Finale
Open to male members of the SCGA who are over
the
age of 40. Field will be limited to 50 teams – 36 in
the
Championship Division (ages 40-54) & 14 in the
Senior
Division. 36-hole four ball stroke play will decide the
low championship and net winners.
