BUENOS AIRES, Argentina (November 10, 2016) -- In the upset of the day at the Argentine Amateur medalist winner and top-seed Kyle McLatchie fell victim to 64-seed Alex Gleeson 3&2. Gleeson, who placed ninth at the 2016 Irish Amateur, will now advance and face advance 32-seed Sebastian Johan Bulla Lopez in the Round of 32 at Pilar Golf Club.
The highest remaining seed is two-seed Andress Schonbaum who defeated 63-seed Roman Rebora 1 up in his Round of 64 tilt. Schonbaum, the leader after the first day of stroke-play qualifying will now be pitted against No. 31 Ignacio Juan Noba in Round of 32 action.
Of the top-10 seeds seven were able to advance through to the second day of match play. Along with McLatchie the only other two not moving forward are No. 6 Aubrey Beckley and No. 9 Martin Erikkson.
Once the Round of 32 is complete Friday morning it will be onto the Round of 16 in the afternoon. The quarterfinal and semifinal matches will be played Saturday before a champion is crowned after Sunday's 36-hole title match.
