DALLAS, TX (October 25, 2016) -- It was all Baylor Bears as they ran away and hid at the Royal Oaks Intercollegiate. The host school completed the 54-hole event at Royal Oaks Country Club 31-under-par and 32-strokes in front of second place Houston.

"I think it's just a glimpse of who you could really be," McGraw said. "I didn't expect yesterday, not in a million years. This is a hard golf course," Baylor head coach Mike McGraw told Baylor Athletics. "it's a golf course that will expose you. So, to play as well as we did yesterday was a pleasant surprise. But, I also felt like these guys had something really special in them. Now, we get to go into the offseason with a great memory and excitement and energy for the spring."

12th ranked Baylor was led by co-medalist's Braden Bailey and 36-hole leader co-leader Matthew Perrine, both of whom finished 10-under.

Perrine, a junior, completed his week with a 3-under 68 that saw him birdie five times and bogey twice. Needing a birdie on the final hole to share the honors with his teammate, Perrine responded on the par-5 18th.

"I knew I was doing well since I was going off as the No. 1 guy," Perrine said. "I just went out there and tried to play my game the same way I played yesterday, because that worked out well. But coming in, I had no idea. I just wanted to get in with as low a score as I could."

Bailey started the day one shot behind Perrine but thanks to a final round 4-under 71 he was able to earn a share of the top spot. A sophomore, Bailey rolled in six birdies and two bogeys on the final day. He did most of his damage from Nos. 4-16 when he birdied six of the 13-holes. Bailey made some history during his freshman season becoming just the third Baylor rookie to lead the team in scoring average. The previous two were 2016 PGA Championship winner Jimmy Walker (1997-1998) and Ryan Baca (2002-2003).

Two other Baylor Bears were in the top-10; senior Hunter Shattuck was tied for third at 7-under while in a tie for sixth it was freshman Cooper Dossey at 4-under. Sophomore Garrett May was tied for 13th with a 1-over tally.

Shattuck ended up sharing third place with 36-hole co-medalist leader Roy Cootes of Pepperdine.

The top-five team standings was rounded out by Michigan (+4) in third, Kent State (+6) in fourth and Iowa (+9) in fifth.
