PLACIDA, FL (October 21, 2016) -- Thanks to some clutch play in Friday's single matches the South Team won their second consecutive Florida Cup. The South won by a final tally of 17.5-14.5 at Coral Creek Club.
Beginning the day ahead 9-7 the South took control early on the final day with wins in the first four singles matches to take a commanding 13-7 lead. The North did make a late charge picking up 4.5 of the final five points but by then the deficit was to large to overcome.
Picking up wins for the South on Friday were Rick Woulfe, Peter Wegmann, Jerry Rose, Owen Joyner, Marc France, Daniel Eggertsson and Richard Donegan.
The South now leads the all-time series and has won the last two playings of the biennial event.
