Rodgriquez, Bouguennec Ahead at Salinas Valley Amateur

SALINAS, Calif. (October 15, 2016) -- The first round is in the books at the Salinas Valley Amateur hosted by Salinas Fairways Golf Course.
Andrew Rodgriquez shot the low round of the day, a 3-under 69 to give him a two-shot lead over San Jose's Jay Weiss and San Francisco's Larry O'Neill. Shane Haag sits just three shots behind the pace while Hee Tae Yang and Zack Powell are in the hunt four shots back. The final pairing tees of 10:10 am local time.
The senior division is being led by Pleasant Hill resident Dale Bouguennec. Bouguennec, this year's NCGA player of the year, opened with a 3-under 69. He leads Mark Miller by one while Casey Boyns and Jeff Britton lurk two shots behind. The four of them will be paired together in tomorrow's final pairing which tees off at 8:30am local time.

NCGA points event. Format is 36 Holes of
Individual Stroke Play. The field will consist of the
following
flights: Championship (Black Tees); Senior
Gross (55 and over - Blue Tees); Super-Senior Gross
(65 and over – White Tees);
and one or more Net Flights. Women competing in
Championship Flight
will play from the Black tees and play from the Red
tees in the Net Flights.
Number of Net Flights based on number of entries.
Open to any amateur
with
an established handicap index.
