LECANTO, FL (October 6, 2016) -- Defending champion TJ Shuart and Michael Connors both finished 2-under to share medalist honors at the Florida Mid-Amateur. Play at Black Diamond Ranch's Quarry Course will now shift to match play with the top-32 advancing.
Shuart, the 2016 Coleman Invitational champion, got as low as 4-under after birdies on the 7th and 14th holes plus an eagle on the par-5 9th. A bogey and double-bogey on Nos. 15 and 16 dropped Shuart back to 1-under before he rebounded with a closing hole birdie.
For Connors it was a two birdie, two bogey day. However, the highlight of the round came with an eagle on the par-5 9th.
The only other player under-par was Glenn Przybylski at 1-under. Przybylski was 3-under through 14-holes but bogeyed twice on the way in. On the day Przybylski birdied five times.
Len Schonfeld was fourth at even-par while six players tied for fifth at 1-over.
