Thomas Crowther wins Yolo County Championship
DAVIS, CA (October 2, 2016) -- Thomas Crowther fired a 4-under 63 Sunday to capture the Yolo County Championship by three shots over Juan Gonzales.
The Sacramento native trailed Gonzales by one shot heading into the final round and ended up beating him by four shots on the day. Bob LeDoux finished in third at 2-under par while Griffin Long and Jeff Johnson rounded out the top five at even-par and 1-over respectively.
The senior division was captured by former Memorial Amateur champion Jeff Hoffman who scorched the Davis Golf Course with a 6-under 61. Hoffman came from three shots behind first-round leader Steve Hendrick to post 7-under 127 and win outright by seven shots. Hendrick took solo second at even-par while Tim Snow finished third at 1-over.
ROUND ONE STORY
After the first round of the Yolo County Championship at the Davis Golf Course Juan Gonzales holds a one-stroke lead.
Gonzales came firing out of the gates with a first round 64 and he leads Griffin Long, Jeff Johnson and Thomas Crowther by a stroke. The three are tied for second place following 65's.
Tyler Fullerton will begin the final round in fifth place at 66.
The Senior Division is being led by Steve Hendrick's first round 63. With the round of the day for either field Hendrick has been able to open up a three-stroke lead over second place man Jeff Hoffman.
Tom Marks is in third after a 68, it's Matt Vukicevich in fourth with a 69 and three others shot 70's to tie for fifth.
