Defending Champion Nick Moore leads NCGA Valley Amateur

ROSEVILLE, Calif. (September 20, 2016) -- Defending champion Nick Moore opened with a 3-under 69 to lead the field at the NCGA Valley Amateur hosted by Morgan Creek Golf Course.
The Seaside, Calif. resident tallied five birdies against two bogeys and fired the only round in the 60's in breezy conditions. Trailing Moore by three shots is Karl Gedris who tallied four birdies against four bogeys for an opening-round 72. Playing at his home course, Juan Gonzales sits in solo third after an opening 1-over 73.
Mark Morgan leads the senior division after a round of 1-under 71. The El Dorado Hills native tallied three birdies and two bogeys and holds a one shot lead over Steve Wilson. Defending champion Dale Bouguennec sits in a tie for seventh after an opening 4-over 76.
