FAIRFIELD, CT (August 30, 2016) -- Dennis Lynch was one of only five players to finish under-par as he finished 1-under to claim low-amateur honors and fifth place at the Metropolitan Senior Open at Brooklawn Country Club.
Lynch, a two-time Metropolitan Mid-Amateur winner, opened with a 72 before firing a 2-under 69 in the final round. In the first round Lynch was 5-under through 12-holes before struggling on his way to the house.
On Tuesday Lynch was able to rebound from his disappointing finish the day before with three birdies and one bogey. His birdies came in the 1st, 7th and 11th holes.
Amateur George Zahringer III also finished in the top-10, tying for sixth at even-par. Zahringer, the two-time defending MET Senior Amateur winner carded a pair of even-par 71's.
James McGovern outlasted Bill Van Orman and won the MET Senior Open on the sixth playoff hole.
