Arizona Amateur: Ken Tanigawa will look to defend his title against Cory Bacon

SCOTSDALE, AZ (August 26, 2016) -- After quarterfinal and semifinal wins on Friday Ken Tanigawa will now have a chance to defend his
Arizona Amateur title against Cory Bacon.
The 2015 champion, and two-seed this year began his day at the Country Club at DC Ranch with a 2&1 quarterfinal win over No. 11 Jeff Fell.
After pushing through to the afternoon semifinals Tanigawa was again able to win 2&1, this time over No. 46 Anthony Cecere, the highest seed to make it to Friday.
12-seed Cory Bacon made his way to the final match with a 3&2 win against No. 20 J.J. Gresco in the quarterfinals before upsetting top-seed and medalist Sam Triplett in a 19 hole semifinal match.
The championship match between Tanigawa and Bacon will begin at 7:30 a.m. MST.

Arizona Amateur
The event will play host to a maximum field size of 156
players for qualifying rounds, with the field cut to the
top 64 players for the match play championship, all
competing in one division. The event will consist of a
36-hole qualifier, followed by a 64-player match play
championship.
