West Virginia Mid-Amateur Semifinals Set

CHARLESTON, WV (August 23, 2016) -- The field of the West Virginia Mid-Amateur has been trimmed to four at Edgewood Country Club.
In the first semifinal top-seed Sam O'Dell will square off against four-seed Pat Carter. O'Dell, the winner of two of the last four West Virginia Amateur's, reached the final four with a 21 hole quarterfinal victory over No. 9 Joey Seabright.
His opponent moved on thanks to a 3&2 win against 28-seed Mike Steward.
No. 2 Sam Tomblin also remains alive following a 4&3 win against 26-seed Carson Edwards in the quarterfinals, it was his second 4&3 win of the week after he bested 15-seed Brian McPherson by the tally in the Round of 16.
Matching up with Tomblin in the semis is six-seed Jerry Stutler who moved via a 2&1 victory against No. 27 Mike Keiffer in the quarters.
Following the morning semifinal matches will be the championship tilt in the afternoon.

Entries are open to male amateur golfers with an
active GHIN Handicap index through a WVGA
Member
Club, and who are 25 years of age or older by the
first
round of Championship. The championship will be 18
holes of stroke play qualifying followed by match
play
with the field being cut to the low 32 players.
