John Sajevic wins Nebraska Senior for second time
OAKLAND, NE (July 31, 2016) -- With a final round 4-under 68 John Sajevic finished 6-under and atop the Nebraska Senior Amateur leaderboard for the second time. Sajevic ended up three-strokes better than defending champion Jay Muller at Oakland Golf Club.
Sajevic, the 2008 champion, began his weekend with a 2-under 70 before firing a title clinching 68 on Sunday. The first birdie of Sajevic's final round came on No. 4, only to give it back with a his only bogey of the day two holes later. From there it was flawless golf for Sajevic as he birdied holes 7, 8, 12 and 17.
Muller, the only other player under-par, began the day tied for the lead with Sajevic and played solidly on Sunday with a 1-under 70. The 2015 champion got as low as 4-under in his final round but he would play himself out of the tournament with consecutive bogeys on 14 and 15. Overall Muller birdied four and bogeyed two.
Carl Johnson was even-par in third, Steve Peterson was 4-over in fourth while Gregg Vonnahme and Ed Person shared fifth at 5-over.
