Payton Schanen wins Georgia Women's Amateur in a Playoff

KENNESAW, GA (July 27, 2016) -- Mercer rising sophomore Payton Schanen won the Georgia Women's Amateur at Pinetree Country Club in a playoff on Wednesday. Both Schanen and Janet Mao finished 1-over, sending the 54-hole event to extra holes.
Schanen fired rounds of 69-73-75 throughout the week. During her freshman year she earned All-Southern Conference and All-Freshman team honors after winning the FGCU Eagle Invitational and finishing eighth in the conference for scoring average.
Northwesterns Janet Mao put together scores of 73-71-73 to reach the playoff.
Isabella Skinner (Georgia) was third at 4-over, Kayla Jones (Florida State) finished 6-over in fourth while Louise Yu and Anna Buchanan (Samford) were fifth at 8-over.
