Damon Palmer captures Mississippi Trustmark Invitational
OXFORD, MS (July 17, 2016) -- Amateurs dominated the Mississippi PGA Trustmark Invitational with Damon Palmer running away to win by seven-strokes. Palmer finished 12-under after just 54-holes at The Club of Oxford.
Palmer combined rounds of 70-65-69 throughout the weekend. His best round, the 7-under 65 on Saturday, included eight birdies and one bogey. On Sunday Palmer finished things off with a five birdie, three bogey day.
The front nine was comprised of two birdies and two bogeys; however the back nine was a sparkling clean three birdie 3-under 33.
In all there were five amateurs that finished inside the top-5 and seven in the top-10. The additional amateurs inside the top-5 are Cameron Clarke, 5-under and in second, Brian Gates at 2-under in third and Austin Brown, Josh Oller 1-under and tied for fourth.

ABOUT THE
Trustmark Invitational
Format: Scheduled 54-hole (individual) Stroke Play
Championship. Players will be flighted after Round 2.
The winner of the Championship Flight shall be
deemed the “Trustmark Invitational
Champion.”
The Championship flight will be composed of the low
16 amateurs and all PGA Professionals.
Amateur Super Senior Division (60 Years Old and
Older) will compete from its own set of tees for all
three rounds of the Championship
