Llloyd Jefferson Go has the Southern Amateur lead
MYRTLE BEACH, SC (July 16, 2016) – 2016 Big East
conference champion and player-of-the-year Lloyd
Jefferson Go of Cebu, Phillippines (68, 71, 68) goes
into the final round of the Southern Amateur
Championship with a two-stroke lead over Zachary
Bauchou of Forest, VA (71-70-68) at the Dunes Beach
& Golf Club in Myrtle Beach, SC. Defending Champion
Taylor Funk of University of Texas slid to a 74 on
Saturday, but is well within striking distance at 6-under
(67-69-74).
Also at 6-under are Australian Brett Coletta (69, 74,
67) of Melbourne, Australia and Jimmy Stranger of
Tampa, FL (72-68-70).

Defending Champion, and son of PGA TOUR player Fred
Funk, Taylor Funk of Ponte Vedra, FL (67-69) has taken
the
lead as he begins the 3rd Round of the Southern
Amateur on Saturday at The Dunes Beach & Golf Club
in Myrtle Beach, SC. After posting eight birdies in the
first two rounds, he leads the field by two strokes.
Standing alone in second place is Michael Nagy of
Knoxville, TN (68,70) with Scott Stevens of
Chattanooga, TN (71,68), Jack Smith of Knoxville, TN
(69,70) and Lloyd Jefferson Go of Cebu, Phillippines
(68, 71) tied for third.
The cut was made after the conclusion of the 2nd
Round this morning at 147 and 63 players will
advance to the third round, which will begin today
with a shotgun start at 1:15pm.

the 110th Southern Amateur Championship with a

stroke lead over Lloyd Jefferson Go of Cebu,

(68-71). Round two play was suspended for the day at
2:55 p.m. due to lightening and will resume at The
Dunes Beach & Golf Club in Myrtle Beach tomorrow
morning at 7:30 a.m. EST.

T2 with three holes completed on his 2nd Round after
posting a -5 (67) on Thursday.
Roughly half the field still needs to complete their
second round. The low 66 and ties advance to the

round.

Southern Amateur
The Southern Amateur, which dates back to 1902, is
one of two competitions held by the Southern Golf
Association (the other is the Southern Junior). This
is a 72-hole stroke play championship with a cut
made after 36 holes. Entries are open to any male
amateur golfer who has a current USGA Handicap
Index® not exceeding 3.4 under the USGA Handicap
System. Non-exempt players must pre-qualify at
one of the qualifying sites held across the southern
U.S. in the two months leading up to the
championship.
