MONTEREY, Calif. (July 3, 2016) -- Hunter Rappleye recorded rounds of 70-71-71--212 and won the Monterey City Amateur by one-stroke. Blake Hathcoat finished with a 54-hole total of 213 and in second place at Del Monte Golf Course.
Rappleye, a senior at St. Mary's, struggled out of the gates on Sunday and was 3-over after seven holes. However, following a pep talk from his Dad, Rappleye was able to turn things around.
Luke Vivolo (UC Davis) and Nicolas Noya (UC Davis) tied for third at 216 while Ken Noonan and Alexander Wilson (California) shared fifth place with a 54-hole tally of 218.
There were two hole-in-ones throughout the weekend as Rappleye carded one on Friday and Matthew Sterling jarring one on Sunday.
SENIOR DIVISION
Pacific Grove native Ken Noonan captured the 2016 Monterey City Senior title on Saturday. Noonan beat out the likes of Dale Bouguennec who shot an even par 144.
Eligible seniors continued play on Sunday and competed in the final round of the Monterey City Amateur.
