LITTLE ROCK, AR (June 19, 2016) -- It was a shootout on the final day of the Arkansas State Amateur and it was Austin Eoff who emerged on the top of the leaderboard. Eoff closed with a 4-under 68, to finish 12-under at Hot Springs Country Club and one-stroke in front of Garrett May and Kerry Lott. The deciding stroke for Eoff came on the 18th hole when he poured in a tournament winning birdie.
Eoff, who recently finished his Purdue Boilermaker career, got off to pedestrian start with pars on the first four holes before tallying his first birdie of the day on No. 5 and a second on the 6th. On No. 8, Eoff gave a shot back with a bogey but quickly rebounded with birdies on 9 and 10 to reach 11-under.
Following an 11th hole par, the 2016 All-Big Ten First Teamer dropped his final shot of the day on No. 12 moving him back to 10-under. With the holes dwindling, the leaderboard remained tight and it was Eoff who rose to the occasion. He birdied 15 to get back to 11-under setting up the tournament sealing birdie on the closing hole.
Kerry Lott began the day tied for the lead and played well in the final round shooting a 3-under 69 to post 11-under. During the final round, Lott birdied five holes and bogeyed two. Sharing second place with Lott is Baylor sophomore Garrett May who closed in 4-under 68 after starting the day one shot off the lead at 7-under. May carded five birdies and a bogey on Sunday.
Stafford Gray and Austin Harmon both completed play with an 8-under score and tied for fourth.
