Sam Bernstein wins The Singles at National Golf Links

SOUTHAMPTON, NY (June 19, 2016) -- Former Yale golf captain Sam Bernstein, won four matches in two days to claim The Singles at National Golf Links. Bernstein made his run to the title at the National Golf Links of America as the three-seed.
In the championship match, Bernstein beat 16-seed Pat Fogarty 3&2, after defeating two-seed Brett Williams 3&2 in Sunday morning semifinal play.
Fogarty reached the title match with a 1 up win over four-seed Paul Stancs. In the Round of 16, Fogarty upset Wake Forest senior and medalist winner Clancy Waugh 1 up.
Bernstein had a decorated career at Yale, winning the 2013 Ivy League Player of the Year award and then sharing the award in 2014. In each of his four year's with the Bulldogs, Bernstein was named to an All-Ivy League team, twice a first teamer and twice a second teamer.
In the Round of 16, Bernstein defeated 14-seed John Harris 2&1 before emerging victorious in the quarterfinals by a 2 up margin versus six-seed Hans Albertsson.
