LINCOLN, NEB (June 17, 2016) -- In the 36-hole Nebraska Match Play final six-seed Rylee Reinertson won the 2nd, 3rd and 4th holes to jump out to a 3 up lead and never looked back as he won 6&5. What made the runaway victory at Firethorn Golf Club even more impressive was that it came against defending champion and top-seed Michael Colgate.

After going 3 up through four holes Reinertson, a junior at Oklahoma, kept the peddle to the mettle winning the 6th, 9th, 11th and 13th holes to move 7 up. Colgate didn't win his first hole of the day until the 16th only to see Reinertson win the next hole and restore his lead to 7 up.

On the second eighteen Colgate, who is heading into his senior year at Nebraska, tried to make a bit of a run getting within 4 down, but wins on the 30 and 31st holes closed out the match for Reinertson.

Rylee Reinertson reached the finals with a 3&2 semifinal win over No. 7 Patrick Hanzel. Through eight holes Reinertson was 2 down before he rallied to win five of the next eight holes to close out the match on the 16th green. In five matches this week Reinertson did not once play the 18th hole with a match on the line.

Colgate breezed into the championship match with a 6&5 win over No. 5 Mike Coatman. A quick start did the trick for Colgate as he took a 3 up lead after four holes.
