Kirk Wright wins Oklahoma Senior Amateur
EDMOND, OK (June 17, 2016) -- 11-seed Kirk Wright took care of business and won the championship match of the 2016 Oklahoma Senior Amateur 4&3. Wright was able to defeat four-seed Lawrence Field at Fairfax Golf Course.
The match was tied until Wright won the 5th hole to take the lead and never looked back. Wright continued to extend his lead throughout the day with wins on the 7th, 11th and 14th holes. In fact, Wright did't drop a hole during the match.
Wright reached the finals with a 2&1 win over No. 10 Don Clarke in the semifinals. The Oklahoma City resident's most difficult win came in the Round of 32 with a 1 up win over No. 22 Randy Robinson.
Field, of Tulsa, made his way to the finals thanks to a 20 hole victory over No. 16 John Stansbury.
