Jimmy Hazen wins second Long Island Open
GARDEN CITY, NY (June 9, 2016) -- It was a unseasonable cold, windy and at times rainy day but that didn't stop Jimmy Hazen from winning his second Long Island Open in three years. Hazen was the only player to finish under-par posting a 2-under 54-hole score at Garden City Country Club.
After two under-par rounds to begin his week Hazen took care of business in the final round with a 1-over 73 to win by five-strokes. The 2014 Long Island Open champion took advantage of the courses three par-5's throughout the week, going 7-under on the holes. During the week Hazen carded a total of 11 birdies.
Colin Corrigan finished second at 3-over, Mark Mielke and Mark Brown were 4-over in fourth while Dylan Crowley, Paul Dickinson and Anthony Aruta shared fifth at 5-over.
