FIFE, Scotland (June 4, 2016) -- Ireland's Conor O'Rourke holds a one shot lead at the prestigious St. Andrews Links Trophy with a 36-hole final day remaining.
O'Rourke opened with a 6-under 65 on St. Andrew's New Course on Friday and backed it up with a 3-under 69 on the famous Old Course. The Irishman currents sits one shot clear of Scotland's Sandy Scot and Finland's Kim Koivu who have each posted consecutive rounds in the 60's for an 8-under total.
Defending Champion Federico Zucchetti sits at 1-under par after back-to-back 71s while 2014 champion Grant Forrest is in the hunt at 3-under. The high-class field of 144 amateurs from Europe, South Africa, and Australia was cut to the low 52 players and ties which fell at even-par 143.
36-holes will be played at the Old Course Sunday to decide who joins the likes of Justin Rose as champion of the St. Andrews Links Trophy.
