Stockton City goes to Justin Avery in playoff
STOCKTON, CA (May 23, 2016) - One year after finishing the Stockton City Amateur in a fifth place tie Justin Avery survived a playoff to take home the title. At the end of 36-holes of play Avery was tied at 144 with Giovani Ayong but was able to outlast him in the playoff.
The Stockton City Amateur was played over the course of two days at the Van Buskirk Golf Club and Swenson Park Golf Club. Avery put together back-to-back 72's and had at least a share of the lead all weekend long. Ayong shot a 75 in the first round, then fired the round of the tournament with a second day 69 at the Swenson Park Golf Club to tie Avery.
Matt Anderson (73-73--146) was third while Danny Garcia (74-73--147) and Alvaro Estrada (73-74--147) tied for fourth.
The Net Flight winner was Rodolfo Paez (68-74--142) and Jack Brown (69-68--137) was the Senior Net Division champion.
