Brady Exber is Laughlin Amateur winner
LAUGHLIN, NV (May 22, 2016) - Even-par was more then good enough for Brady Exber as he won the 2016 Laughlin Amateur Championship in run away fashion. Exber put together rounds of 71-73 as he finished eight-strokes better than Jeremy May at Mojave Resort Golf Club.
Exber, from Las Vegas, NV was able to break into the winners circle after a couple of close calls in some early season major events. Most recently Exber finished fifth at the Carlton Woods Invitational.
Throughout the weekend Exber played steady golf with some flashes of brilliance. On Saturday Exber started slowly with a 2-over front nine but rallied with three straight birdies on holes 11-13 to post a back nine 3-under 33 and a first round 1-under 71. In the final round Exber did just enough to win, tallying two birdies and three bogeys.
Behind May (+8) was Darrell Lutey (+9) in third, Nicholas Rainey (+11) was fourth and Eric Neal (+17) was fifth.
John Turk was the only player in any division to finish under-par as he finished 4-under and won the Senior Division by eight-strokes. Turk closed with a 3-under 69. The Super Senior Division winner was Al Kueker at 2-over. Kueker was one shot better then three players sharing second.
