(April 5, 2016)--Last week the qualifying period for the 2016 U.S. Amateur Four-Ball Championship at Winged Foot Golf Club came to a close. Qualifying for the championship began in August and ran through the end of March. The teams will all gather at Winged Foot Golf Club from May 21-25 to determine a winner.
Since we last updated the results in the middle of March just one qualifying day was held and that was on March 21st at the Sun River Golf Club in St. George, UT. On that day two more teams punched their tickets to the famed Winged Foot Golf Club.
The low team on the day was the duo of Dan Horner (Sandy, UT) and Darrin Overson (Provo, UT) with a score of 8-under-par 63. They finished two-stokes clear of the rest of the field.
CJ Lee (Provo, UT) and Brett Sampson (Payson, UT) earned the second spot after out dueling two other teams in a playoff, after posting an 18-hole score of 6-under-par 65. In the playoff they beat out the teams of Patrick Fishburn (Ogden, UT) and Devon Purser (Clearfield, UT); Cameron Crawford (Bluffdale, UT) and David Jennings (Layton, UT). Both teams will serve as alternates should either of the two qualifying teams not be able to make the championships at Winged Foot.
