San Francisco City Senior: Round 1 Matchplay Results

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif - The round of 16 is set in the San Francisco City Senior Championship.

Medalist Scott Anderson moves on to the round of 16 with a 3&2 win over Mike Cinelli. Also moving on is last year's champion and 2nd seed Gary Vanier who took down Michael Wishart 4&3.

Keep an eye out as well for past champion Mark Miller and 20-time USGA participant Randy Haag as matchplay continues March 5

STROKEPLAY QUALIFYING STORY

Scott Anderson has earned the number one match play seed in the senior division at the San Francisco City.

Anderson, a native of Bakersfield, Calif., fired a 71 in the stroke play qualifying portion at Presidio Golf Course which was the only round under par. The cut to the top 32 was made at 83 via a four-man playoff for one spot won by Mike Cinelli. Matchplay is set to begin at Presidio on Febuary 28th.

Jay Guerin fired an impressive 73 to earn medalist honors in the super senior division. The cut to the top 16 for matchplay was made at 85. The matchplay portion will begin March 5th.

MEN'S SENIOR DIVISION
$275 ENTRY FEE INCLUDES ALL GREEN FEES.

Open to the first 72 entries received. Participants must have an index of 9.4 or lower on 12/01/16 and must have an age of 55 or older as of March 7, 2017. Qualifying will consist of one 18-hole stroke play round. Along with the defending champion, who will hold the number two seed, the low 31 scores will advance to the Men's Senior Championship Flight. Individual scores will determine seeding for match play. Contestants who don’t qualify will be refunded $125. No- shows will not be entitled to a refund. All rounds will be played at TPC Harding Park Golf Course. Those contestants who post the 32nd and 33rd low scores will be deemed alternate #1 and #2, respectively.

The oldest municipal tournament in the USA. Match play event with scratch senior, women's and open divisions. Past champions include Ken Venturi, George Archer, and Dorothy Delasin.
