Women's champ Sofia Garcia with Men's champ Juan Alvarez
LIMA, Peru (Jan. 24, 2016) -- Sofia Garcia of Asuncion, Paraguay has done it again at the South American Amateur.
The 2015 champion defended her title at Lima Golf Club with a four day total of 7-under 281, just one clear of a group of golfers at 6-under that included Magdalena Simmermacher (Argentina); Bronte Law (England); and Lucia Gutierrez (Peru).
In the second round, Garcia holed out for eagle on the par-4 18th hole. She bogeyed that same hole on Saturday, but birdied it when she needed it for the win on Sunday.
Garcia is a sophomore golfer at Texas Tech.
