EAGLE RIDGE GOLF & CC (Jan. 8, 2016) -- Jobim Carlos of the host country took home the Philippine Amateur Open in convincing fashion today, firing a bogey-free round of 66 and three round total of 9-under 207.

Carlos, a Manila, The Philippines native who plays golf for the University of San Francisco (junior) was apparently home for the holidays, making the most of his winter break.

The next closest competitor was Japan's Glen Nagai, who posted 1-over 217 for the 54-hole event.

There was no catching Carlos today. He birdied 4 of his first 5 holes to get to 4-under quickly, then added a cherry-topper on No. 9 for a slick 31 before closing steadily with a 35 on the back nine. With a lead like he had at the turn, no sense taking many chances.

Carlos started the day with a big lead (6 shots) but had pushed it to a full 10 shots after that red hot front nine.

Nagai played very steady in opening with 34 on the front and closing with 35 for his best round of the tournament and solo second.
