NCGA up seven over SCGA at Seaver Cup
Jeff Wilson
LA QUINTA, Calif. -- The Northern California Golf Association are up 21.5 to 14.5 over their opponents from Southern California at Rancho La Quinta Country Club in the 9th Seaver Cup Matches.
Created in 1998 at the Ojai Valley Inn & Spa as a biennial competition that brings together the best players from Northern and Southern California, the Seaver Cup is named in honor of the late Charles Seaver.
The NCGA team is looking for its third victory in a row, while both teams are looking to break the current tie in overall victories since the tournament's beginning.
The Northern squad won five of six morning Four-Ball matches, including an impressive 5-and-4 victory from Jeff Wilson and Michael Tolladay over SCGA heavyweights Tim Hogarth and Jeffrey Fortson. The Wilson/Tolladay duo won their afternoon foursomes match 2-up over Dan Sullivan and Joe Doody.
John McClure and John Pate were the only SCGA players to win in the morning, taking down Dale Bouguennec and Gary Vanier 6-and-5.
Singles matches will wrap things up on Friday.
