Broward County Amateur canceled due to heavy rains
Stormy weather on Thursday Night and Friday morning soaked the course at Jacaranda Golf Club, cancelling the first round of the tournament. The decision was made to cancel the first round on the East Course and shorten the tournament to a two-day event.
On Saturday, scheduled for the West Course, conditions didn't improve, so two hours before the first tee time, tournament director Andrew Michael had to inform the players of the decision to cancel the tournament. He sent an email to the players.
"Mother Nature was not kind to us this weekend. With rainfalls close to 5 inches, the course is borderline unplayable and with any additional rain we are predicted to get throughout the day, we will have to suspend play.
"With that being said, we are going to cancel the 2015 Broward Amateur Championship," Michael's email said.
Even heavier rain fell on Saturday, so the decision to cancel proved to be a good one.
