Four Remain at Argentine Amateur
Anthony Quayle
CABA, Argentina – Four golfers remain at the Argentine Amateur Championship as the quarterfinal matches were completed Friday.
Andre Tourinho, ranked number two among mid-ams on amateurgolf.com, survived a marathon match that lasted 27 holes against his opponent Eduardo Serratos. Tourinho, who also beat the number one seed German Gallegos in the round of 16, will face Italian Luca Cianchetti in the semifinals. Cianchetti advanced via a 2up win against Canadian Eric Banks.
The remaining semifinal match will be between two Australians, Anthony Quayle and Cameron John. John is the highest remaining seed left (#3) after handling Irishman Geoffrey Lenehan four and three.
The cut to reach match play, which housed the top-32 golfers, came at 3-over par. 19 native Argentines qualified for match play yet none were able to advance past the round of 16 as the international competition has proved very competitive thus far.
