Andrew Price tied for lead looking to repeat at Illinois Mid-Amateur

FLOSSMOOR, Ill. — Defending champion Andrew Price shot 73-69 to sit 2-under par in a tie for the lead with Bloomington's David Marquardt after 36 holes at the 23rd Illinois State Mid-Amateur Championship.
Marquardt's rounds of 72-70 at Flossmoor Country Club put him in the final group for Wednesday's 18-hole finale.
Chadd Slutzky came back from a morning round of 75 with a 4-under par 68, which included seven birdies, to sit one shot back and earn the last spot in the final pairing.
First-round leader Craig Toler followed up his opening-round 69 with a second-round 75 to sit at even par, two shots back in fourth. Matthew McLaughlin is fifth, three shots back.
36 players made the cut and will compete on Wednesday for the championship beginning at 8 a.m. at Flossmoor. The final trio of Price, Marquardt and Slutzky will hit the first tee at 9:39 a.m.

Illinois Mid-Amateur
Open to mid-amateurs age 25 and older who are
resident of the state of Illinois. Qualifying is required
for those who do not meet the exemption criteria.
Format is 54-holes of stroke play with the low 35
and
ties advancing to the final 18-holes. Must be a 7.4 handicap index or better.
