Brendon Caballero in position to repeat as champ at Tennessee Match Play
Top-seeded Hunter Richardson of Clarksville
The semi-finals of the Tennessee Match Play Championship are all set and defending champion Brendon Caballero looks to defend his title.
Caballero will face top seed Hunter Richardson in an all UT-Martin semi-final. On the flip side of the bracket sits second seed Hunter Howell and fourteen seed Stoney Crouch. The Lipscomb University teammates will compete for a spot in Saturday’s afternoon finals.
Tim Jackson continued his strong showing with dominant 7&6 victories in both the round of 16 and the quarterfinals. He will face 2013 Senior Match Play Champion Buzz Fly in his semi-final match. Mike Freels of Chuckey and Doug Harris of Franklin will square off in the second semi-final match.
Semi-finals begin Saturday morning at The Grove at 7:30am with finals set for the afternoon.

Tennessee Match Play
This match play event adopts the format used by the
PGA Tour for the World
Golf Championships Match Play tournament. Under
this format, a field of 64
players will be divided into 16 groups of four players
each. Each group will play
a round-robin format with each competitor playing
three matches within their
group. A player will receive one point for a win, a
half point for a tie, and each
group’s winner will advance to the round of 16.
Applications are open to
amateurs who possess an active USGA/GHIN
Handicap Index of 8.0 or less from
a TGA member club or course.
