David Snyder wins Kentucky Match Play

GOSHEN, Ky. — David Snyder, a senior at the University of Kentucky, handed Davis Boland of Louisville a 1-up defeat on Thursday to claim the 2015 Kentucky Match Play Championship title.
Snyder, of Somerset, Ky., had close victories all throughout his four matches leading to the championship finale, including another 1-up victory over Andy Roberts in Wednesday afternoon's semifinal. Roberts, of Owensboro, beat medalist Cooper Musselman in the quarterfinals 3-and-2.
The runner-up Boland had his own upset win in the quarterfinals, sending defending champion Denver Haddix back to Lexington with a 3-and-2 defeat. Boland then went on to beat former Murray State golfer Hunter York in the semis in a match that went one extra hole.

ABOUT THE
Kentucky Match Play
Format
consists of an 18-hole stroke play qualifier followed
by
a round of 32 match play bracket to decide the
champion. Senior bracket is 16 players, and there
are multiple handicap brackets.
Entrants in all KGA tournaments shall be required to
have an active Handicap Index at a Kentucky Golf
Association Member Club at the time of entry and
meet the championship’s residency requirements.
